Diplomats:
Libyan leader to visit France 10 to 13
December
Paris, 4 December: The Libyan head of state, Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi, is
expected in France for an official visit from 10 to 13 December,
diplomatic sources said on Tuesday [4 December] in Paris.
This stay, which infoes after a visit to Tripoli by President [Nicolas]
Sarkozy at the end of July, is yet to be announced officially by the
French presidency, the sources said without elaborating. On 29
November Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said that Mr Qadhafi was
due to arrive in France probably on 10 December, without saying for
how long he would stay. Mr Kouchner and Mr Sarkozy's diplomatic
adviser, Jean- avid Levitte, have denied that this visit to France,
which is to enable the Libyan leader to improve his international
image, has been granted in exchange for the release by Tripoli of
[five] Bulgarian nurses and a Bulgarian doctor on 24 July.
